Interview with a Personnel

Posted by Jª

On this assignment, I had a hard time looking for a respondent for the interview since the hr managers in our respected adopted company are busy right now. But thankfully, I was able to find a personnel working in the Pearl Farm Beach Resort. His name is Daryl Bismanos.

Since he was in a Hotel Business, he initially thought of a different meaning of HRM other that the Human resource. On the interview, he told me that it is relevant to be able to hire a qualified applicant since they are one of the asset of the business. In the workplace, the employees must be honed, trained and guided to thier own profession. Taking care of the employees is a must in a business since they are only hiring less people in the business. He said that there are only a few people working in Pearl Farm. Even if they lack the manpower, he said that they give importance to their workers. He also said that he is satisfied on the way their Human Resource Management works.

Based on the answers of Mr. Daryl Bismanos, I agree on what he said about taking care of their employees. Benefits where given and there are even incentives when the Resort has a lot of people coming in. They give importance to the people working there and that is an important factor for the business to have no problems on their workforce.

Another Surprise!

Our group decided to go back to our adopted company in MIS (Management in Information System) for data gathering. A few of our friends tagged along since they don't have anything to do that day. When we there, the person in charged in the front desk told us that Sir Gementiza is not around that time and will be back at around five that same day. Since it was still early and since we also decided to check out our adopted company in HRM, we decided to go the 9th floor of the building where the office is located. While we were there, we observed that there were people scurrying in and out of the office. After a while, miss Glochie entertained us about our purpose there. It was only a brief meeting since we only asked them about our HRIS proposal. While waiting for the elevator, which was really took a long time, the HR manager of Callbox, Maam Andrea, saw us and asked us if we were applying. We hurriedly replied that we are not there applying but for our project. She then remembered us and even asked us to invite our friends along. We have no choice but to follow. And we thought that this can help in our hrm and as well as we can post something in our blog. After a while, we went inside in a room where we noticed several workstations. Sitting comfortably in the workstations, she instructed us to boot up the computer. I noticed that they have really nice and high end computers there. Well, that is expected though, hehehe. When the screen lit up, there was this unfamiliar user interface that I thought was just vista skin. But then I noticed the cursor has this f in it. The Operating System that they are using there is fedora. Fedora is a linux based operating system. They applied FOSS here! hehehe.... So much about that, we went to there site and create an account and after that we filled up some questions in the, er, questionnaire. After filling it up, my friends and I decided to go to the other room for the next phase, in which we weren't ready. But before we were out, there was this man who asked us a few questions. I remembered he was with us in the elevator when we were going up. He asked us what we were doing in the 8th floor (that is where LDS ERC is located). We told him we went to LDS ERC and he followed it up asking us if we where mormons. I told him our purpose there and we went to the other room. I forgot to tell you that this place only speaks english. We were always laughing then coz of *nosebleed*. After that, while waiting for maam Glotchie, there were other applicants there that speak english fluently. We were laughing at the way we spoke that day. Not that our english is bad, but we where not used to using it. Some even resorted to use sign language! hahahaha... After all the fun and the hassle, we finished there and went back to the LDS to have our data gathering. Thankfully, sir Gementiza was there and we were able to have the neccessary data that we needed for our subject. ^^,

In-source or Outsource?

There are advantages of outsourcing the Information system of an Institution as well as In-sourcing it. But before we decide on whether to use either of both options, we first must look at the capabilities of the Institution, especially in our school. Some may say that outsourcing our Information System is better that in-sourcing it. But for me, I would choose in-sourcing based on the current position of our Institution.

If I were to take a position on whether to choose between outsourcing and in-sourcing the information system of the school, I would rather choose in-house or in-sourcing.

Outsourcing maybe advantageous in some areas, but surrendering or giving the total control on the Information System of our school to other third party company can affect the security and the integrity of the IS involved. And why do we need to outsource our own Information systems when we have competent and skillful workers that can manage the said system? Also, when problem arises, it can be easily managed and controlled.

But it doesn't mean that we are only limited on in-sourcing alone. We can also make use of both options to improve the quality of our Information System as well as its success. By using both outsourcing and in-sourcing, our school can gain the advantages of both options.

Surprise Visit!

Wew! In the past few days, we were already planning to have our compilation to be checked by our Professor this Friday. So my group mates and I decided to head to our chosen company for a brief interview about the things that we needed to put in our first draft for our major paper in our subject. BTW, the subject that I'm referring to is our MIS or Management in Information System subject. What we planned to do that day was to just tell them that we are gonna conduct another interview. Basically, the questions that we are going to ask them is not yet formulated. So with my group and a few friends, we headed to Pryce Business Park. When we arrived in our destination, the office of the company, they were busy since they were conducting a workshop for job seekers. The company, by the way, is LDS Employment Center, run by the Latter Day Saints. This company basically helps job seeking people to ,er, find jobs. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, we headed to the front desk. When we told the receptionist about our purpose there, He told us to wait for a few minutes. After a while, we noticed that the person that we interviewed in the past was busy with the workshop so we were directed to another person. We went to his office and stated our purpose of going there. But then, there were a change of plans. Since he told us that he is free and he can be of help, we grabbed the chance of having our interview right away. But the interview is just a brief since we are going to gather data about their company background, profile, vmgo, etc... And also plan for our system proposal after. Good thing we have this guidelines that we brought that greatly helped us in our interview. To make it short, we were satisfied that day that we were able to gather enough data for our first draft. This is it for now, I hope that the outcome of our consultation will be ok.. hehehehe...
