Strategic Life Planning: Predictive or Adaptive?

For me to be able to achieve my objectives or goals in life, adaptive approach would be the best option in dealing with it.. But a share of predictive approach wouldn't hurt. Well you see, it's not always that we can foresee things that will either hinder or help us. Predictive can be used in some aspects in obtaining the goal but the adaptive approach is more convenient than the predictive approach. But this approaches wouldn't be of much help if there wouldn't be steps like the SLDC phase. Like the phases, I came up with my own steps for me to help obtain the goals that I have in my life. To start off, before anything else, I plan, that is I have to set my goals and objectives. It is a critical part or step for without it, the whole process would be meaningless. So with it, I will be able identify what are the things that I dream of, my vision, and what I really want. With this first step, I have a guideline for me to follow. With this being said, I now have the goals and objectives for me to follow. But honestly, there are parts or portions of my goals that are still vague. But then again, my major goal is still undeterred. The next step would then be the action or the implementation. In this step, this is where the works is being done with the purpose of getting near or better yet, achieving my goals. This step will be a long and a painstakingly job. After this step would be the review of the things done and not yet done. And also, in this step, I will be determining the outcome of my recent actions and its impact on my goals. On what aspect will I have to improve, the things that were done accordingly, these are part of the review. This is the last step that I will be having for my goals. But in here, the improvements needed are addressed as well as the improvements.


Well, like I stated earlier, that some parts of my goals are vague. That is because there can be unforeseen circumstances that can greatly change the way I see things. In effect, it will make or cause some changes on my objectives. But then again, the main goal wouldn't be changed.


These three steps may seem like a short and abrupt way of obtaining my goals. But you see, it doesn't end on the review step. It is a continuous process that will take a long time for me to accomplish. But that depends on how are things done. So you see, there are aspects that the predictive approach is used but mostly for me, the adaptive approach is the best approach in obtaining my goals/objectives in life. ^-^

Is it Worth It?

Having stayed in the University of Southeastern Philippines for a given amount of time, I have learned a lot from both the experiences as well as the teachings given by our respectable professors. During those times, we were given projects in different subjects related to our course. And to tell you the truth, it it not a walk in the park. There are meticulous projects in which we really had a hard time doing or finishing it. But with that, we also learned a lot from it. Not only theoretical, but also some virtues (patience and determination, to be precise, hehehe).



With that being said, the proposed system that our group came up with is an enrollment system for a certain school. The school that we chose use the Microsoft Excel in their enrollment processes and also for their record-keeping. With this, we proposed creating a system that can be of help to the school. In the beginning, we planned on having it net ready, for luckily for us, some of our members know how to use PHP. But we abandoned the idea for we thought that we would be creating an executable program. But our professor told us that it would be best if it would be internet ready. So after hearing what our professor said, we reconsidered our plan on having an executable program.


For me, it would be a challenging and a worthwhile task to accomplish. I can benefit from this project and also, in some ways, we can help the school in their enrollment system. There can be a lot of free programs about enrollment system but what we will be doing will be from scratch, from the beginning. This can really improve my skill as an IT student. But then again, though this can help me, there are also other systems that we can propose. I'm not being "balimbing" here but just being rational. If we can think of a better system, then why not have a go at it. As long as both parties can benefit from it, why not do it. It will also be a nice challenge for us. This proposed systems that we're creating can be a stepping stone for our success.

Another Reflection on the past ^-^

This is for our SAD I(Systems Analysis and Design I) subject. We had a make up class on the 19th and 20th of December. This subject was given to our MIS 2 professor since our old professor was assigned a task by by the school management to do something. Anyway, since much time has been wasted on waiting for another teacher and only 1 group was able to share about their assigned topic , our professor decided to have all the sharings on the date mentioned. We started the first day of our make up class preparing the computer for the presentation. After all things were set, our group, which is the first sharer that day, started the presentation. Our reported was more like a basis for other groups since the other group explained in a more detailed manner about the things in our report. While we we're sharing, our professor looked up on our proposed system proposal, which is an enrollment system for a certain school. while we finished the sharing and no questions were asked, our professor told us to reflect on the report and also on our system proposal. He asked us about the vision of each course, since the Information Technology Students and the Computer Science students were in the same class. After a minute or so, he asked us why did we came up with the proposal. And he told us that this would not, in a way, bring out the best in us as IT or CS student. Having pondered on things, he was correct. The proposed systems that we had, even though its a bit complicated, is already available. What we are doing is that it is more like a remake of another system existing. What our professor is saying is that, as an IT or CS student, we must be innovative(hope I got it right.. hehe). Well, after the reflection, the sharing continued. In the afternoon, there was this highlight of the day, which is the sharing of George. hehe.. He delivered his sharing in a funny way. The day after, there was a demonstration on how to properly gather info from a company. After that, the reporting continued. But luckily for us, the class took up half day. This is nice since it was also our intramurals that time. But still, before we parted ways, our professor reminded us of our gantt charts and the requirements and also, the blogs hehe.. ^-^

Reflections on the past

As always, I am late in giving this reflection... but this Christmas break allowed me to ponder on things I haven't been doing, especially the responsibilities that I have as a student. But anyway, I was enlightened to make up even though its a little too late, hehe. blah blah to start off, last December 16 (a week ago), we had a make up class on our subject MIS 2. For those who doesn't know what MIS means, it's Management in Information System. We had the whole day for our class. What really made this day fun is not only the sharing(not reporting, mind you) of each assigned topics but also the questions being asked and also the way the class participates in the sharing. Some had a funny way of delivering their sharing while others have this kind of serious note in them. But that made the discussion more lively. But the best thing about that day was that the topics were given a real life situation as their examples, not based on theories alone. After the reporting was done, our professor showed us a series of slides on how to properly implment an IS. Even though he had a hard time talking, he talked about the content of the slides. In the end, the whole class was given a project. If I am not mistaken, we would make a Strategic Plan for our dear college and hoping that we can successfully implement whatever we will come up with for the college. ^-^
